"Moonlight Movement, Elephants" Another big painting, this one is 30 x 40 inches, showing an idea that has been in Elin's head for a while--not easily captured from life. "Before the Hunt, Cheetahs" This painting is HUGE, measuring four by five feet! Elin loves to do these large pieces of wildlife, especially since each one is a portrait of some of the wildlife at the Living Desert Museum in Palm Desert, California! Back with the acrylics, and this is a 5 x 5 study from some photographs I'd taken several years ago at the Wildlife Way Station. I've been working on the new acrylic video, and so I've put up the oils for a few days.

"Rolling Along - Sea Otter" Cleaning the studio today, I came across some images I'd taken when I was up on the ocean in Monterey Bay. The sea otters are tame enough to get some good imagery. This fellow is floating on his back, washing his face, in the relatively clear waters of the Pacific. I like the design of this acrylic 5 x 7 piece, as the lights and colors work so well. Yes, the roofers are still here, but at least they finished the studio today.

"Little Visitor" I have been camping in places where these raccoons are so bold, they come out during daylight to raid your campsite. "African Moments, Giraffes" This painting measures four feet by five feet tall, and the image here doesn't convey the sunlight intensity of this colorful painting! "Watchful (Buffalo)" A very nice study of two buffalo, in subtle and greyed blue and orange earth tones. On gallery-wrap canvas, this 12 x 12 original oil needs no framing, as the painting continues around the sides. US $ 300 from the artist. |

"Fast Cat #1" Elin was on a marathon roll with this painting, a 30 x 40 canvas, completed at the La Quinta Desert Plein Air! That's the challenge of plein air painting, and Elin had a double challenge to get the likeness of these "fast cats" every time they would show themselves. There were two in the enclosure, and at first this one was laying on the sunny slope, but then both started pacing around the pen. "Highway 74 Bighorn" On the day before the official start of the La Quinta Desert Plein Air event, Elin and her good friend Gwen went up Highway 74 in the late afternoon and did a little on location work.
